History.

DSC was incorporated in March of 1983. Through many different phases of growth, DSC is now located on 4.5 acres in the Port City Industrial Park in Muskegon, Michigan. Our facilities now include 2,500 square feet of office space, 1,220 square feet of laboratory space, 17,500 square feet of manufacturing space and 11,730 square feet of temperature controlled warehouse space.

Kurt Kling

Technical Director

Kurt started at DSC in 1998, working in maintenance part-time while he worked on his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, which he achieved in 2000. Kurt then became an Analytical Chemist at DSC, followed by Quality Control Manager, then to his current position today as our V.P. & Technical Director. Kurt’s position involves oversight of all Quality departments and issues. He also is responsible for all regulatory matters and overseeing product development. Kurt has always had a passion for chemistry, starting off in junior high working at North Laboratories.

Kurt has a true appreciation for the beauty of West Michigan and likes to get outside and enjoy it every chance he gets, particularly by going bicycle riding or kayaking. Outside of work, Kurt also likes to get together and have fun with his family and friends.

Sandy Bradshaw

Office Manager

Sandy joined DSC in 2000 as an Office Assistant and has been our Office Manager since 2005. With 20 years at DSC and prior years spent as an Office Admin of her family’s plumbing business, Sandy knows small business. Sandy has a wide range of responsibilities including financial administration, human resources, logistics, customer service, and office management. Around the workplace, Sandy is know as the “Mom” of our DSC family with her kind-hearted nature, always willing to go above and beyond for others.

If you know Sandy, you know she loves her animals and enjoys to spend time outdoors walking her dogs or gardening. With her two kids living out of state, Sandy also enjoys traveling to visit them in Texas and North Carolina as often as possible.

Darrell Melton

Production Supervisor

Darrell joined the DSC team in 1986, starting off as a bottle filler in production. In 2002, he stepped into the role of Production Supervisor, being I charge of scheduling production, hiring new employees, and supervising the production team. Darrell believes that every day is a great day and his positive attitude plays a major role in DSC’s great company culture. He is a great leader and has commonly been referred to as, “the best boss I’ve ever had.”

Outside of work, Darrell enjoys hanging out with friends and family, watching sports, and attending drag races. If you know Darrell, you know he loves food. If there’s a new place to eat in town, you can bet Darrell will be one of the first try it out.

Matt Owen

Operations Manager

Matt joined DSC Laboratories in December of 2019 as our Operations Manager. Striving for continuous improvement throughout the organization, Matt focuses on process and equipment improvements that allow us to effectively meet customer demand and expectations. With 38 years in manufacturing, Matt has done it all and has experience in many different roles and leadership positions. One of Matt’s passions is inspiring growth in others so they can reach their true potential.

Outside of work, Matt’s hobbies include riding motorcycles, scuba diving, kayaking, and backpacking. Matt also enjoys spending time with his wife, wrestling his grandkids, and serving God with his church family.

Robin Freeth

Lab Manager

Robin joined DSC in 2002 as our Lab Manager. Robin has 40 years of experience in the field and holds a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Biology. At DSC, Robin has a variety of responsibilities. His role includes managing the QC lab, writing and revising SOP’s and product specification sheets, reviewing batch records, performing cleaning checks, performing equipment calibration, and approving finished product C of A’s.

Outside of work, Robin’s hobbies include reading, hiking, and coin collection. Robin also enjoys to travel and visit new places, especially foreign lands.

Dave

Dave Moulds

Quality Assurance Specialist

Dave joined DSC Laboratories in 2001 as our Quality Assurance Specialist, where he handles the inspection and release of finished product and records, inspection of received goods, and sampling of raw materials and components. Since then, Dave has also taken on the roles of purchasing and inventory management for the company.

If you know Dave, you know he has a great sense of humor and keeps us all laughing in the break room. Outside of work, Dave enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Sylvia.

Ruth

Ruth Zarate

Quality Assurance Supervisor

Ruth joined the company in August of 2011 as our Document Control Specialist then moved into the Quality Assurance Manager role. Prior to joining DSC, Ruth spent 18 years in the Quality Department at Perrigo, totaling 27 years of experience in her field. Ruth also has several certifications pertaining to the Pharmaceutical industry. Ruth’s role at DSC includes creating and maintaining batch records, product specification assay sheets, raw material and component specifications, performing quality audits, Annual Product Reviews, and leading GMP Training sessions. If you know Ruth, you’d know she is always willing to go the extra mile for anyone that needs help.

Outside of work, Ruth enjoys getting outside in
the fresh air and loves to travel. Her hobbies include biking, hiking, and going for long walks with her husband and Great Dane, Caesa.

Bailey

Bailey Thompson

Office Admin + Fun Planner

Right out of high school in 2013, Bailey started her first job on the production line at DSC. 7 years and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration later, Bailey works as an Office Admin for DSC Laboratories, being involved in HR/on-boarding, graphic design, web design, and the go-to gal for special projects. Bailey is known for her creativity, positive attitude, and bubbly personality, which is why she is also our FUN planner at DSC.

Outside of work, Bailey’s hobbies include whitetail deer hunting, horseback riding, and fitness. Bailey also loves the beach: If it’s a sunny day, you can bet you will find her at one of our many beautiful Lake Michigan beaches.
